Hotel is in dire need of a clean. There was liquids (bodily fluids) when we arrived in our room. I was down the walls which is totally unacceptable. There was mould in the toilet and under the bunk bed. Since returning home, I have contracted Ring worm which is commonly caught from dirty linen and bedding. The timing of the rash, coincides with my stay at your hotel. I have obtained medical advice from a general practitioner who has confirmed the condition and I am now on treatment. I am absolutely disgusted with the state of your "hotel", and that I had to pay money to stay in your horrible room! I am now having to cope with the discomfort of treatment and the symptoms. I expect a response from someone senior regarding this issue or I will take this further. I have photographic evidence to prove the appalling state of the room.
direct for the cemter
The Etap is a basic no frills hotel competively priced and ideal for an overnight stop. Breakfast is not included and there is no kettle in room, (they can be borrowed for a deposit) but food and drink is available anytime in the foyer. The hotel is around 15 minutes walk from New Street station but be warned some of the underpasses are not lit at night. It Is almost next door to the concert venue the o2 academy.
We stayed on a monday so very quiet but I guess it could be noisy when hen/stag night parties are there or if groups attend a local concert. Also it is next to be busy road so try for a back room.
The location and the price were good for me. I only needed a bed for the night but the rooms are very, very basic, with no adornments whatsoever. A bit cell like. Even the bed was bolted down.
My only cause for concern was that there was no record of my booking on arrival. Fortunately I did have the proof to hand and there was still space.
Handy location for city centre. Friendly and helpful staff. 24 hour Availability of non-rip-off drinks and snacks
Non-existent Ventilation inside hotel. Plastic cups in room supplied tended to be split (3 out of every four). Limited wardrobe facilities.
This was great value for money, basic but everything you need for a short stay! The staff were very helpful, the hotel was clean and the continental breakfast was a nice start to the day! I would definitely stay again.
Could benefit from tea and coffee in the rooms for a bit of extra comfort.
Simple booking procedure and a good price, especially with the cancellation on the day option. Good, powerful shower.
Any chance of some shampoo? Like soap, I always assume there will be some in a hotel.
Hotel was very close to the O2 Academy which is where i was going. It was very cheap! Roomwas basic but clean and comfortable - can't complain for the amount paid and was absolutely fine for one night! Good secure carpark - also cheap for 24 hr stay.
Very basic, you have to pay for any little extras - shower gel, shampoo etc, no hairdryer...stuff like that but i had read this before i went so packed appropriately so was not really a problem. Breakfast finished at 10 and when we asked if we could buy breakfast at 10.10 we were told no, even though we could see there was plenty of food left out in the buffet. Room was quite noisy as it was on the main road but wasn't too bad with the window closed - again, you get what you pay for and overall it was good value for money.
Shower room had foul smell
It was clean and you get what you pay for although it was a good location
It did noy provide a hairdryer and shower was not clean no bathroom. Toilet and shower seperate.
It is a very basic hotel however for how cheap it is I think you get your moneys worth! All the staff have been very helpful, especially Miriam, who went into conversation with me, asking how I was finding my stay and was really friendly. The location is excellent. It is only a 5-10 minute walk to the town centre.
The only issues with cleanliness was with the walls and floors as there were a couple of stains other than that I was overall impressed. I wouldn't wish to stay with anyone in the room for a long period as it is quite small and the shower is quite see through.
The room was basic but just right for a overnight stay got everything you need....
The hotel had an excellent central location, was excellent value for money ,with excellent staff, a very good value breakfast and facilities for light meals/snacks.
The rooms are extremely basic, without even an Ikea print to break up the walls! The walls and woodwork of our bathroom did have marks/smears that should have been cleaned, which made me slightly uncomfortable, as bathrooms should be spotless.
It is a very nice hotel in a very good location especially for such price. Up to three people can live in any one room, but a room is not big, I think it is comfortable for 1 max 2 people. I stayed there twice, and both times I had a very good experience.
I would recomend to set up wifi. Everything else is fine especially again for such price!
